When did you first become interested in art?

I can’t remember a time that I wasn’t interested in art. I’ve always liked painting or drawing or making. There were always creative materials in my house growing up so it was impossible not to!

How would you describe your design style?

My design style is usually colourful and busy. I like my work to feel joyful.

What inspires you?

All sorts of things inspire me but colour is what usually gets me going.

What is your favourite piece in your collection?

At the moment ‘June Yellow’ is probably my favourite piece. Chartreuse always makes me smile :)

Is there any artistic talent in your family?

My Mum trained as a fashion designer. She has a lot of artistic flare. Thinking about it now she was probably my first real influence.

What is the journey you take to produce your work?

Usually a vague idea just pops into my head and I sketch it out. A lot of the time I draw outlines in fine liner and add colour digitally. My ideas aren’t usually fully formed when I start working on them so my computer is the perfect place to experiment and basically make it up as I go.

What made you want to be a part of Art Rookie?

The fact that they are a UK based company was a big part of the reason I wanted to join Art Rookie. It also gave me the opportunity to see my designs on products that other similar companies don’t offer.

When you’re not creating masterpieces what do you enjoy doing?

Probably binge watching whatever Fan-terrible show/ movie I can find on Netflix!

Have you faced any struggles getting your work noticed?

Luckily there are so many online platforms these days for artists and designers that if you really want to get your work out there you can.

Where would we find you hanging out in the UK?

I’m a Londoner through and through ;)

What makes British talent different than elsewhere?

Hmm…..maybe it’s the different points of view of British life that come from people of varied cultures and backgrounds. Perhaps the fact that ‘British’ can mean something different to everyone is what makes British talent unique.

What are your plans for 2014?

I’m looking forward to a fabulous Christmas 2014 and working towards a happy and productive 2015.
