I am a freelance Artist currently living in London and working from Wimbledon Art Studios. I am an observer and am constantly absorbing new information. I use drawing and collage to explore the traditional hand made verses modern technology.
I am interested in the language of cartography and how it is assumed to give a reliable description, and thus is given authority. But maps are inevitably abstract as a result of selection, omission and codification. A fiction created from a factual observation, they present only one version of the earths surface. I exploit this in my work through deconstructing, distorting and reconfiguring found maps, rendering these functional objects virtually indecipherable.
