When did you first become interested in art?
I started painting when I was really really young, but when I was about 8 years old I had this really old quirky art teacher and he used to tell us strange surreal life stories that had happened to him and his friends. Until this day I don’t know if they are real or not but I believe he has had huge influence on the way my art is today.
How would you describe your design style?
Surreal.
What inspires you?
Mostly people. I am really interested in human behaviour and their relationships with other people, animals, objects and surroundings.
What is your favourite piece in your collection?
That’s a difficult question, it’s like choosing your favourite child so I would have to say I love them all equally, but the one that says the most about me is ” You are my rock”.
Is there any artistic talent in your family?
My mum and dad are both civil construction engineers, so when I was growing up I used to see them draw buildings and bring them to life. I was fascinated by what they do, but always wanted to create something impossible, and art has given me the freedom to do so. I guess this is why I am a surrealist. I take something from two separate realities and create a new reality, which still speaks the mutual language of both.
What is the journey you take to produce your work?
I think a lot, for days sometimes even weeks about certain subject such as love, relationships etc usually this is influenced by something that I have experienced, seen or read. Then I get an idea or I come to some kind of conclusion and I start creating.
What made you want to be a part of Art Rookie?
I loved the fact that they support British artists and that they are so friendly so I had to sign up.
When you’re not creating masterpieces what do you enjoy doing?
Usually I am at home being a home fly (haha) and reading books, playing Xbox or watching interesting documentaries and baking cupcakes.
Have you faced any struggles getting your work noticed?
I think I have been quite lucky because I have got some amazing opportunities from just putting myself out there.
Where would we find you hanging out in the UK?
Either in the art galleries staring and exploring artworks or in a coffee shop in London.
What makes British talent different than elsewhere?
I think our artworks are very honest sometimes too honest for some people, but I love it.
What are your plans for 2015?
To create even more artworks, to learn new things and grow as an artist and as a person.
